1. Generalized Mixed Integer Rounding Valid Inequalities for Mixed Integer Programming Problems (2006 - Present)
This research started as my dissertation at North Carolina State University. The paper based on this work was recognized as ’Finalist’ at 2006 INFORMS George Nicholson Student Paper Competition. The research has opened doors to several research avenues which we are currently pursuing. We have introduced a generalization of the theory of MIR inequalities. Using this generalization we have developed new families of MIR inequalities for general MIP problems and new families of facets for the finite and the infinite group polyhedra. (... read more)
2. Optimization of Woodcutting Processes in Lumber Industry (2005 - 2007)
I worked on this project as a research assistant under supervision of Dr. Yahya Fathi at NC State University. This research was on the application of mathematical programming (including linear, integer, dynamic programming) in optimization of woodcutting processes. The project was supported by a STTR grant from the NSF (... read more)
3. Simulation Study of Natural History and Screening of Colorectal Cancer (2004-2005) I worked on this research project as a research assistant under the supervision of Dr. Stephen D. Roberts at NC State University. This research was on study of natural history of colorectal cancer and cost-effectiveness of different screening methods and policies for it. The project was supported by the NIH (... read more)

System Automation and Productivity Center Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran Research Manager May 2001 - Oct 2002 Air Pollution Reduction and Gasoline Consumption Optimization Coordinated a research team in analysis of the gasoline consumption cycle in Iran and design of a management information system to improve its performance. Collaboratively analyzed the field data gathered on gasoline consumption cycle processes in Iran. Collaboratively designed a management information system to manage and control the gasoline cycle.
Department of Industrial Engineering Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran Researcher Sep 1999 - Sep 2000 Part Procurement Management System in an Auto Manufacturing Company Performed field study to collect information about the part procurement management system in the company. Analyzed the system and diagnosed its deficiencies. Designed a new system to eliminate the existing deficiencies. Documented and presented the results to the company management.
Graduate Research Assistant Sep 1999 - Jul 2000 Evaluation of Staff Training Requirements in an Automobile Manufacturing Company Supervised a team of researchers in design and programming of an information system to store and process the field data collected on staff training requirements of the company.
Research Assistant May 1997 - May 1998 Total Quality Management of Educational Services at Sharif University of Technology Designed an information system for the total quality management system of educational services at Sharif University of Technology.
Research Assistant May 1997 - May 1998 Variance Reduction in Simulation Using Rejection Method Studied the variance reduction in simulation output using a variant of rejection method based on antithetic random number generation. Developed the required C program. Performed experiments and analyzed the results.
