COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is a one-hour seminar.
Speakers will be invited from our INEN faculty and graduate students, from other departments at TAMU and other universities, and from industry.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Introduce ISEN graduate students to research being conducted on current topics of interest to the profession.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

A weekly emailing to each student will describe the forthcoming seminar, announcing the next speaker and the topic. Any unexpected cancellation will also be announced by email. In addition, announcements will be posted on the course website (above).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Each student is responsible for notifying the instructor if her/his email address changes. If for any reason a student does not receive a weekly email, it is his/her responsibility to check the web page for the weekly announcement. Failure to receive an email does not constitute a valid excuse for missing a seminar.

DEPORTMENT:

ISEN 681 will be conducted in a scholarly, professional manner and it behooves each student, as a representative of the department, to:

  1. be seated in the assigned seat in ZACH203 before 3:00pm

  2. not converse with other students during presentations

  3. conduct himself/herself in a courteous, professional manner

  4. leave her/his seat only after the seminar has been concluded.

ATTENDANCE:

To receive credit for ISEN 681, each student can miss a maximum of 1 seminar during the semester. Documented evidence is required to establish an excused absence.

PARTICIPATION:

Each student is encouraged to participate actively in the scholarly exchange initiated by each presentation. Each speaker will say whether he/she will answer questions during her/his presentation or prefer for questions to be held until the presentation has been concluded. 

GRADING CRITERIA:

Each student's participation in ISEN 681 will earn a grade of S or U. To receive a grade of S, a student must meet the deportment, attendance and participation requirements noted above.
